This is doubtless offtopic for this thread, but: I would be seriously curious to know what you think "sane OldJPEG support" is. The only reason that OldJPEG got abandoned in the first place is that it wasn't sane and couldn't be made so. I would personally prefer to reject outright any libtiff patch that tries to pretend OldJPEG is a good or even minimally supportable idea.

That means the new OJPEG decoder handles most of the OldJPEG TIFFs existing, at least more than previous decoder was able to handle. In particular it can decode TIFFs produced by that old Microsoft tool that I've never seen but a lot of people seems to be using.

And it does not requre patched libjpeg as it was with previous decoder.
