Dear libtiff community,

For converting an tiff image with CMYK colorspace into a pdf file, there are among others the following possiblities:

1. Using the libtiff tool tiff2pdf

2. The tif2eps (and then the ps2pdf) command from TeX distributions or available over CTAN

Is there a fundamental difference between these two ways, which might have an influence on the quality of the pdf output?

Or does maybe tif2eps even simply use libtiff code for doing the conversion?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, bu there are no real modifications of pixel values from tiff to pdf as far as I know, because pdf actually just embeds raster graphics and is just wrapped around a tiff image. A good conversion tool for me should therefore obviously be restricted to this operation and leave my tiff raster graphics as it is.
