Hello,

I think it has been seen that Adobe is using the value 8 to represent Zip compression. Perhaps replacing the libtiff value of 32946 with 8 would simply make libtiff compatible with "unreleased specification compliant" Adobe Flate/Zip compressed files, yet I would think that would be too easy and thus not feasible.

Some people from Adobe might be on this list, yet they are perhaps so busy as to never read these e-mails. What are direct e-mail addresses to which we could send requests for the draft 7.0 spec, and barring that, all info relevant to Zip compression in TIFF? The only Internet e-mail address I am seeing in this 1992 TIFF 6.0 specification is tiff-input@aldus.com.

Who at Adobe do we appeal to get information and drafts of 7.0 TIFF specification?

Just wondering, I have no vested interest but think it would be good to have and encourage adoption of non-encumbered compression.
