I can imagine that metadata, and especially if it is in an format like xml that will expand data, takes a few megabyte. Think of the output of some expensive processing, that you want to cache. Have seen similar needs in the past.
I wonder however if it would not be better to use a database for so much info? Is much faster in accessing details or parts of metadata. In fact one could store a db file in the tag...
