Have the libtiff features/interfaces changed in some major way which suggest that libtiff should jump from 4.1.0 to 4.2.0 vs 4.1.1?

4.2.0 would seem to be to be an appropriate version number, as current master is more than just a bug fix release.

Besides the libdeflate work, there have been security checks added in utilities that could break existing workflows, which may now require specifying a maximum allowed working memory with the -m switch. I experienced that when testing with big images with tiffcp.
