First off, Scott, as a member of this mailing list, I (as an employee of Adobe) was privy to your entire message – oops 😉.

Bob, the only thing that I would correct you on, was that (as I mentioned in a previous message) at least three Adobe employees were present for the BigTIFF discussions that took place on this mailing list – myself being one of them.

Absolutely, there were Adobe employees on the list, involved in discussion, and positive about it. They did not write the specification though (as far as I am aware).

The history is all available via the tiff mailing list records. If some public history is missing, I am sure that I can find it.

Unfortunately, Adobe's business interest in the TIFF format waned. Chris Cox's draft specification for TIFF floating point formats (and sample files) was the last contribution that I can recall and it was never made official.

The Adobe members of the list have been helpful to TIFF as much as Adobe's business interests and policies allowed.
