FYI,

After some digging, it turns out that the pds code does work with 3.6.1.

The problem I had was I was trying to use the pds code that came with the 3.6.0 package. This would not compile with 3.6.0 or 3.6.1 because it had not been updated to fit with changes made for 3.6.x.

After switching to the pds code that comes with 3.6.1, I was able to compile. And, it looks like it is working fine now. This should take care of my own EXIF reading needs.

So, note to anyone who attempts it: the 3.6.0 tiff_pdsdirread.c code doesn't work. Get 3.6.1 instead.
