Lastly, I just wanted to stress that while Joris, Andrey, me and others have an interest in BigTIFF it is my hope that you two (primarily Steve?) will consider yourselfs the leader of the issue and keep it moving. Leadership is critical to keeping this effort on track and to reach some reasonable level of conclusion.

I would like to confirm I feel exactly the same way, for what that's worth, and would like to add thanks to Chris and Steve for the work they did already, as well as thank Frank for taking an active interest. These are very exciting times. Thanks to the work of you guys, we are witnessing the next major leap in the TIFF file format.

Perhaps the Wiki's URL wasn't mentioned recently. I find myself searching for 'wiki' in the archive whenever I need it. So I thought this a good opportunity to mention this URL once more:

http://gdal.maptools.org/twiki/bin/view/libtiff/BigTIFFDesign

Additionally, there will be a 'BigTIFF proposal' overview page in my hopefully familiar site's TIFF section. That page will list the complete classic TIFF vs BigTIFF highest-level structures, as well as provide a pointer to the Wiki and to the relevant mailing list discussions in the mailing list archive. While the Wiki is the authoritive page, and the ideal instrument for collaborated design, the page over at my site will be more of an overview page, a less fragmented though more informal report.

I'll post the URL in the list when the page is up. It is my intention to next always keep it up to date... By the time BigTIFF reaches the final stages, the page might become an overview of how BigTIFF differs from classic TIFF, and what is needed to extend current implementations.
