That may be a good idea, but I think the only person who can do it is Sam Leffler. And I'm not sure iy can work worldwide. The company which is catched the domain is a Germany resident (it seems so, but I'm not sure).

Yes, the German address seems to exist in real life (according to Google).

And there are laws against domain grabbing in Germany. However, I am not a lawyer, so I don't know whether this particular case can be considered domain grabbing.

If libtiff was a brand that belonged to someone it would probably help.

I don't even know if German law applies given that this is about a .org domain.

There is a German language newsgroup on the topic of trademarks and copyright: <news:de.soc.recht.marken+urheber>. However, I'm not sure how smart it is to discuss this case in public. Let me know if you want me to write a message into that newsgroup. Personal mail is fine as well.
