If the patch is small, it should be posted to the list.
Could you make a sample file available on the net?
The files affected are tif_fax3.c and tif_fax3.h. I don't know how to make a diff: either "diff x x.orig" or vice verse? The patch is quite small: I replaced all affected uint16 to uint32 (via a typedef RunType, so you may easily locate them). The patched version is currently avaylable at ftp://qgp.uni-muenster.de/pub/libtiff.
I also left a sample file of 160000x320 pixel.
