Can anyone shed some light on this? Where, in the LibTiff design, is tif->tif_row actually meant to be incremented? How is this supposed to work inside strip/tile decoders?

Upon investigation, it seems that the same problem is there for most decoders. I'm very confused, for these reasons:

Joris,

I was vaguely aware there some significant confusion in the handling of the tif_row. I agree that something needs to be done to clarify the roll of different variables, and cleanup their use in libtiff. Your proposal sounds reasonable, unless Andrey has a concern.

  1. How do people feel about this? If I do this on some decoders, will it end up in CVS?

Better yet, how about we provide you with CVS access so you can commit it yourself?

Best regards,
