Best I could find on the DataType, BYTE, LONG, and ASCII all seems possible. That is suspicious, at the very least, especially with byte order issues in mind. If anyone can provide better information, please do so.

Libtiff is using LONG.

So? LibTiff is not intended to be looked upon as having specification value. I am looking for defenite sources. In the absence thereof, I have looked at LibTiff as one of the secondary source. LibTiff as a secondary source is what moved me to including LONG as one of the datatypes, for now. Other secondary sources mention BYTE and ASCII. With byte order issues in mind, the combination of these types is very suspicious, as I wrote before, which increases the need for a source with specification value.

Also, not being familiar with IPTC, my best description is 'metadata'. If anyone is more knowledgable and able to make a small list of most common/usefull fields in this metadata, that then describes the tag a lot better, or otherwise better define the tag, please let me know.

Metadata is good.

Metadata is mighty vague, and would equally well cover a handfull of other tags. A small list of most common/usefull fields remains desirable as a more helpfull tag description.
